Behind the Scenes: Onsite Video Editing for West End Live in Trafalgar Square
If you’re looking for fast-paced, high-stakes event video editing, few jobs match the energy of West End Live — London’s annual musical theatre celebration held in the iconic Trafalgar Square.
This year, I had the opportunity to work as the lead onsite video editor, collaborating with the production team to deliver same-day edits of live performances from some of the biggest shows in the West End.

This year, I had the opportunity to work as the lead onsite video editor, collaborating with the production team to deliver same-day edits of live performances from some of the biggest shows in the West End.
Fast Turnaround Event Video Editing
The brief was simple: take the rushes from multiple live camera feeds, edit each musical performance as soon as it finished, and get it uploaded to the London Theatre YouTube Channel within minutes. No delays. No mistakes. Just high-quality video content, turned around in real-time.
Over the course of two packed days, I edited over a dozen performances — each one needing to be sharp, polished, and fully optimised for online viewing. These videos became the go-to source for theatre fans who couldn’t attend in person.
Why Onsite Video Editing Matters
In today’s world of content overload, speed and quality are everything. Audiences expect to see highlights while the event is still happening, and that means having someone who can work fast, make creative decisions under pressure, and deliver consistent results.
My years of experience in event videography and post-production meant I was able to move quickly, manage footage efficiently, and hit every deadline without compromising on quality.
Supporting London Theatre’s Online Presence
Working with London Theatre and the West End Live production team, my goal was to help fans feel connected to the performances — even if they were watching from across the world. Each video edit was part of a wider content push across YouTube and social platforms, helping boost engagement, reach, and visibility for the event.
